I think I want a new bike

I need a reality check. I have a 2014 Suly Tucker with disc brakes. I love this bike. I have over 8000 miles from commuting and weekend touring. I commute about 12 miles daily to work and back. I like to push it hard on my commutes. I stop at the market on my way home most days. I'm also 60 years old in great shape from working out, running and biking daily.
Here my question to guys, I have about $2500.00 budget for a new bike!! I was thinking about one of those new cyclocross bikes or gravel bikes. A little faster than my suly. Or should I just rebuild and make my Suly new again. New paint, group set maybe go with a geared hub, tubeless tires, new bars and etc. you know make it new and sexy again. However that Santa Cruz Saigmata is so cool. Oh by the way I do have a 29+ hardtail I love riding in the back country.

You got $2.5K burning a hole in your pocket I say get a new bike. I mean, nothing wrong with Trucker, but a carbon frame with hydraulic disc brakes, 11-sp STI's, pretty much a no-brainer.

It sounds like the Surly and the 29'er are working out well as is, so I'd say don't mess with 'em. Maybe consider something completely different for a new kick... a lightweight fixed gear bike. I never expected I'd enjoy it as much as I do. Completely new riding experience and lots of fun. Wouldn't even need your entire $2500 budget for one either.

What does a new "gravel bike" offer or do that your Trucker doesn't? Asking because they seem near the same to me. Both can take the same tires as required.

If you get a chance, go ride the Santa Cruz, it is very different than your Surly. My opinion of the Surly is that it is a great utility bike, whereas the Santa Cruz is a very fast and agile bike without the utility component.
