Assuming the FD hanger is OEM configuration, it's no older than circa 1982. In the late 1980s most manufacturers started adding a 2nd set of bottle bosses and a pump peg but I know Ochsner held off on these through at least 1986. Components are 1990s 600 Ultegra and even the embroidered saddle and pantographed stem seem much later than the frame. Serial number? Drive side photo?

I have an Ochsner that I bought new in 1992. However, I do not know what year it is. I knew it was a previous years model as that was the reason it was on sale. I have done a fair amount of research and have not been able to find any kind of data base for Ochsner bicycles. I contacted the Ochsner museum in Chicago to ask if they had any info, or knew where it might be found. I never heard back from them. If someone can help here, I am certainly interested.

I worked at a bike shop in suburban Chicago, '84. Remember fondly the Ochsner sales flyer. Toblerone chocolate, cook books, Simichrome polish, Campy wine bottle openers, and well, Campy everything.

I just purchased what is supposed to be an Ochsnee frameset with a recent powder coat. The serial.number is not visible. Do you know the exact location where I will find it? I'd appreciate you sharing. Just. Don't want to start blindly sanding away.
Thanks!

If it's not visible, I wouldn't start sanding in an effort to find it. Based on other samples that have surfaced, there are at least three different sources. One has a serial number stamped along the edge of the bottom of the BB shell. Two other don't appear to have a serial number.

Mine is in the BB on the non drive side. It is fairly faint to see, but look there. Smiles, MH

I bought my Oschner new as a frame and a box of parts, in 1986, when I worked in a bicycle shop. I had to assemble it myself, with the help of the shop manager. It's blue in color, which seems to be the most abundant color chosen (by my viewing of pictures on the net). It was the Aelle tubing model. I choose the Campy Victory groupo for it, so it's not an index shifting system. I seem to recall that a Shimano groupset, indexed, was available, but I never had a Campy equiped bicycle, and indexing was in it's infancy, so I went Campy. But, memories can be a fickle pickle (and thus bad to rely on...).
