The Mothball fleet is pretty much gone, but Randy didn't post the landlocked pirate ship in that backyard.

Even though it was chilly and windy, it was a welcome relief to see the sun, be outside and not having to "creatively solve" any home repair projects!

Now that's a good looking bike.

Everything looks "just right. "

Congrats.

16 miles today on the old Legnano up thru Porter Ranch, then back across to Chatsworth Park, in the foothills north of LA. The Legnano just got a new wheel build and chain. All smooth now, and the brakes work better with nice smooth brake tracks. Garmin said 52° but felt more like 42. I heard it snowed in Malibu today. Crazy weather. Later in the day Northridge got snow too. Too close to home. I like seeing the snow up in the mountains where it belongs. The cloud shots are from Chatsworth Park.

With the lasting snow cover, there’s been no rides recently until today. Ice & slush on Puget Sound Eastside Hills.

Some one plowed and de-iced this shaded section.

Even in full sun, bits that needed caution

Took the beater.

I turned 29 years old today, and luckily the temperature warmed up to 35° under calm, sunny skies.

So I took half of my day off of work and went on my third outside ride of the year.

I had hoped to ride at least 29 miles, but my legs and my ears just weren't having it. I couldn't find my ear covers before I left, so 15 miles was all I could really take without getting a headache, but it felt so good to get back out on the road.

And then I came home to my cats being really adorable:

36 miles thru the citrus groves in Somis, CA, between Moorpark and Ventura. Gave both me and the Peugeot a good workout. The replacement Simplex derailleur and new chain worked great. Nice day to ride, and the weather is finally cooperating.

There are some good hills along this stretch for repeats. And some good hills for just doing nothing. (Please excuse the off topic bike).

23 miles on a very windy Saturday on the Centurion Ironman. First half into the 22 mph west headwind to warm up the legs, half with the tailwind to improve some Strava PRs. Three seconds faster than this time last year, nudged myself from 7th to 6th on a 6 mile time trial segment. Made it worth battling the headwind and gusts up to 40 mph.

Fast curve away from buffeting 22+mph crosswind toward a fast, straight roller coast with the tailwind. Improved my Strava PR on this 6 mile time trial segment, 25.2 mph overall average.

Not quite my current setup. I took off the Scott aero bars the other day. Too gusty right now.

Off to the DMV miles away to get the coveted “ heightened security star on my ID card. Back across the city to my Sisters house. Nice 20+ miles when I arrived.

Washed my bike, played fetch with one of her dogs and drank a couple beers by the pool. Did I mention it was mid 60’s?

What to do when having 'in-between' conditions. The snow is blah for any x-country skiing and the roads for cycling are salt runoff messy, to areas with melt to re-freeze making it hair raising white knuckle. Nearly bit me a few times. Another dusting due in but still nice to stretch out on the fixed gear clunker.

Check out the aerodynamic vintage fork -Ashtabula for Schwinn. Lol

Glad to post in this thread again.
Sun’s out - but low 40s and wind make a very chilly ride.
My usual boring route for base miles.
The Falcon with new wheels and 22mm Conti Giros handles crisply.
Perhaps a final ride on the Harding pending a full vintage component upgrade ( well almost).

Was dressed more warmly today.
But it is still Winter.
