Something steel. Give me some time to narrow it down.

Surly Straggler 650b. Probably. No dealers within 300 miles, so can't test ride one. Run some big fat tires on that sucker and roll over all the hills.

N+1
I don’t race, so I’ve never had lofty bike acquisition goals. But I’m finding the rule of N+1 does apply. I have a vintage Univega Competizione “Frankenbike” with Record/Mavic/105 components, a GT Grade gravel bike, and a Kestrel Talon X that took me two years to get a hold of. Now, the only bike I want to get is a super ugly beater. Some old, dirty POS from the 80s or 90s with rattling fenders and paint chipping off...a bike that I could leave anywhere and no one would even think of stealing it. Oddly, I think it would be one of my favorites.

Kona Lava Dome, '90s steel frame version. I'm not really into mountain biking and have never owned a 26" wheel bike, but it's a pretty sweet little thing and would be fun for casual group rides on our groomed gravel/chat trails. Weighs about the same as my '80s road bike. Fortunately the Kona is grotesquely overpriced at a nearby pawn shop so there's little danger of my actually buying it.

I am actually lusting for a bike I already own. I am in the process of restoring a bike I purchased in new 1992, Ochsner steel road. I took it to my LBS to remove the old bottom bracket, the lower headset and the crown race from the fork. I am going to strip the paint to bare frame and repaint it. I am kind of back and forth on the color. Today I am thinking a gloss redish orange or brass color.

A clean Ducati 996. A friend has one for sale, and I am tempted to buy it. I've been riding motorcycles since I was 12, and living in Tokyo, a motorcycle makes much better time in the traffic going in and out of the city. I have the money, I have a parking spot, but I don't have a Japan motorcycle license. Getting the license is a royal pain here, otherwise I would have the bike now.

I just purchased a new in box 2015 KHS Team 29 FS...I'm good for the foreseeable future having a bike for anything I'm likely to do...road, MTB or leisure.

I'm building a rigid Karate Monkey, and I want it finished (and it to be less frosty outside).

I'm thinking custom steel, chrome lugs and fork, monostay and a 1" head tube so I can still use a Cinelli XA quill stem/bars. Internal cabling of course, coupled with a nice polished Campagnolo group, tubulars of course...I just don't like production bikes (Even my 675 I built up from the bare frameset using what I liked). I think I will go with Terraferma since he does great work and is based in Miami and you can get a custom frame for around 2k.

A lot of people here seem to lust over new bikes. I can see why as they are expensive, but they are obtainable if one is willing to spend.
Yet, I personally lust over the older bikes that are difficult to find. Since I'm more into mountain bikes, I'm lusting over this splatter paint green 1991 Axis Team. Yet, I know the chances of finding one in 22in for a reasonable price is slim.
