The stock stem from my '97 750 is very nice, and I think you'd like it if you could find one on eBay. It's anodized silver with a front cap. I don't have a very good picture of it, but you can see most of it in the picture below. It's a 22.2mm quill stem with a recessed top bolt...very classy in my opinion.
Having said that...I guess if you converted to drops, you'd need one with a 26.0mm clamp...or does your bar have a 25.4mm clamp size? The stock stem would have a 25.4mm clamp size...so it may or may not work.

Yes that is a nice looking stem. I’m building this bike up fairly slowly so I have lots of time to consider different stem and bar options. I was looking at some Ritchey “Cowchipper” gravel bars (31.8) so I might need to find a quill stem that takes 31.8 bars or use a quill adapter.
I'll take a new photo soon and post it here since it's the same frame as a multitrack.
Edit: Missed the " " you used on Cowchipper. I'm guessing Ritchey has their own version you intend to use.

I think you mean Salsa Cowchipper. It's what I have on my 520 with an Origin 8 ATB quill.
I'll take a new photo soon and post it here since it's the same frame as a multitrack.
Edit: Missed the " " you used on Cowchipper. I'm guessing Ritchey has their own version you intend to use.

i actually found the stand out at the curb as trash. I remember these stands from back in the 1970’s. They were sold through an ad in the back of bicycling magazine and it was either Steve’s Cycle Center on Salem Avenue in Dayton or International Pro Bike Shop in the back of Kettering Bike Shop that distributed them. There were 2 models - a basic model with a rubber coated hook that clamped the down tube over a cradle and the “deluxe” one you see here that clamped with a foot pedal that clamps or releases pressure on the hook when you step on the foot pedal. I think these used to sell for between 60 and 90$ BITD.

Thanks, Trek calls the color "Pearl Silver with Intense Blue" but I call it white. The brown was accidental as I had the components before the bike. The saddle was also intended to be brown, but the current saddle is more comfy. I almost bought bubble gum pink bar tape to match the pink in the outline of the blue writing, maybe in the future when I wear out my brown tires.

I now have two from that era; one a greasy mess, and the other a frame and fork. The Rincon is going to be my learning bike; I want to tear it apart, clean it up, and rebuild it, including having the frame & fork powder coated olive green. The Rockhopper is going to be built up as a road/tourer. My first steel-framed bikes! Now, if it'll just stop raining for a minute...

Funny thing I've noticed, folks who have the most commentary about the appearance of other people's bikes are often the ones who put in the least miles. Not saying that's the case with you, but generally speaking. I'll take your yowza as a compliment, thanks. While I do appreciate a beautiful machine, like yours, I'm more concerned with functionality; I also have weird tastes, so I try not to criticize others'; I was surprised at the pink, not critical . And I don't put in nearly as many miles as I would like, especially this month.

It's a bottom-tier Multitrack, a 38 lb (before loading the pannier) pig. A very functional and comfortable pig. I'd sell it to you, since you're in the market for one and think it's beautiful, but I waited about 2 years for a Multitrack frame in the right size to come up for sale locally. I wanted all the braze ons and triple crank and room to fit fat tires and fenders. At $25 and literally in the neighborhood across the street I couldn't resist. I was commuting on vintage road bikes and bought this one to use as a winter/foul weather bike but realized quickly that for my commute it was superior to the roadies in probably every way (well, except speed and weight but those aren't commuting priorities for me) so it's currently my only commuter. For sure, it's been a hard winter - only 180 February miles for me so far, usually 100-150 mi/wk when weather is a little nicer.
It's cool how people are so different. You're surprised to see pink, I'm surprised to see that anybody cares about anybody else's bar tape.

Ironically, I picked up a 790 (not in my size) less than 3miles away for $40 earlier this week. I bought it in pieces with a badly rusted chain around the rear triangle. I am currently fighting a stuck seatpost while trying to save the frame. The wheels are very clean with barely any marks on the brake tracks which is what I wanted.

I brought it home and disassembled it in minutes, I’d like to get it ready ASAP. The original crank was pretty poorly specked (sic?) & the gear teeth are worn down, so that needs replacement. Otherwise it’s in good shape. The MUSA frame on the ‘95 feels nicer than my ‘92. We’re going to paint it cranberry.

This is the tape(Zukka), the pic doesn't do it justice..the color is bright and picks up the yellow-green in the decals.
