New steamroller color is in

Metallic Lilac...less purple than the 5th anniversary big block but more purple than last years ministry grey. I think it’s frame only this year,

Edit: apparently I can’t properly upload a photo

That’s a very nice understated color. Now, it they could just make that frameset available for 26” or 650B wheels, then that would make me overjoyed.

Thanks Hairnet!

Surly just updated the entire website and added better quality images of the new color way. It's pretty. Real pretty.

I think 650b would be pretty easy to do here. Huge clearance already and BB drop looks ok. You could go for Tektro long pulls if you need them. Customer posted image dump seems to be disabled presently but there is a link to a 650b steamroller. Described thusly-

"Just a bike that never fails me. Salida, CO. Craig Copelin." Steamroller 650b.

Anyway, I have the same idea TT. I already have a set of single speed 650b's. Hmm...I do really like that color.

Trying:

Tire clearance is spec'd at 700x38C without fenders, so 650x38B would definitely fit. 165mm cranks might be a good idea, though.

I’m liking that color more every time I see it. I’m really curious just big you can go with the frame. I think you’d need to keep it to 42mm @650B to avoid pedal strike.

I mean, I kind of get it if you're obsessed with the 'clean' look and don't want bosses. That's not my thing but I understand it.

But if you're going to add one, you may as well add two.

I'd forgive the bottle mounts if they'd stop using those goofy track ends.

Surly has other frames with 2 or 3 bottle mounts if that's what you need. Personally I think this frame has one too many.

When did they change them? I don't remember them ever being like that.

They've been basically the same on the Steamroller for as long as I can remember. That lip that goes around the outside is what irks me. My Felt has something similar and it's just pointless extra metal that makes it a pain to wrench the axle nuts.

When you griped about 'Roller trackends, & then Philasteve wondered about it - I thought for sure you meant that weird looking fender eyelet they stuck on the ass-end of its trackends an few years ago, even though in the past on their blog, they'd sometimes published and made fun of requests that they put on eyelets on Steamrollers.

Personally, I like the hoods around Steamrollers' trackends. They're a recognizable "trademark"...that goes back to the Sub.11 "forkends" on their original bike, the late lamented 1x1, from before Surly was Surly...

Oh okay, yeah I'm not too bothered by them. I just don't like those new eyelets they added, I never noticed they had added them to the frame because I knew mine didn't have them. I think they look stupid like some growth coming out of the top, I'd rather the hole go through the dropouts themselves somewhere. But that would probably mean getting rid of the hooded ends too.

They didn’t add enough eyelets imo, if you’re going to add them add them to back and front. While you’re at it, add a bottle mount to the downtube. Bikes been out long enough for them to sort out these gaffs.

Surly's European distributor is called Ison Distribution. Looks like you have some retail choices:

You just need a shop that can order from QBP. So any retailer that deals with them can order from Salsa, All City, Whisky Parts Co, Surly etc.

I'd ride it!

I have to say my favorite surly color is the glitter dreams color as found on the 2015 straggler though!
