Garmin 520 vs Garmin Explore
I currently use the tiny 200 and it still works well. I was thinking of getting a new GPS system or least start looking at them. I don't race too often and don't really need all the interval training stuff or even alerts on the bike.
Just wanted to know from some owners. I noticed the price difference is about 50 dollars as of today 2/17/19.
What do you think about them? I went to dcrain to look at, still looking

Better map and navigation on the Explore. Bigger though.
If if you ever want a power meter, the Explore won’t do it. Speed sensor will work though.
Western Bike Works is blowing out 520’s for $190, vs. $249 for the Explore.
I think the Explore is a better value for the maps.

If you need mapping go the explore, if you don't get the 520. I think the 520 is a good computer. Mapping is just ok and it does everything you would ever need. I wish it was larger.
But a very solid unit. If you have a power meter the 520 is your only choice of the 2.
both I am sure are good though. If I didn't use a power meter I would have the explore myself. I am looking to get the 1030 this spring just for the size of my old eyes.

Thanks guys for your input. I would like to get the 1030 but don't feel like spending the big bucks. My little 200 runs great and I just thought it would be fun to have a map utility. I don't need a power setup - no power in the legs anymore!!!!!

so I think the edge would suit you pretty well for an upgrade. I like the color maps as opposed to b/w.
