Inexpensive regular(ish) shoes for biking?

My road bike and mountain bike both have pedals with clips and straps, though I keep them loose. No big spikes or pins, no clipless.

For the past two years on both bikes I've ridden in Docksiders, and before that in basic Vans slip-ons. These were okay, but I think I'd like something with a bit stiffer sole. Not fully rigid, because I would probably also walk/hike in them at least a bit.

Any recommendations for something similar in that they're not (necessarily) biking-specific or at least not biking-limited, with a bit more stiffness than Vans or Docks? In order of preference I'd go 1) slip-on, 2) velcro, 3) laces.
