Excerpt:

"TO THE STREETS OF SHANGHAI" September 21

... We were taken downtown to the Sports Federation building to pick up our rental bikes, and those with their own had them ready to ride. The Sports Federation is sort of like the government's Ministry of Sports, and it was they who organized our tour, our interpreters and guides, our logistics, and our rental bikes. It was typically bureaucratic as every city and province was under the control of its own local Sports Federation, thus every time we changed locale, we changed interpreters, transportation, and bicycles. Thus I ended up using about five different bikes during the course of the tour...

That's really cool, as a big Arnie fan in the 80's would love to hear your stories over a few beers.

Here you go, a whole bunch of celebrities on bikes all in the same film. This movie has me peeing my pants every time I watch it and kudos to LA for seeing the humour in himself.

I have some stories. I worked his detail for 7 years. It was a good gig. I went all over the US, The White House, US Capitol, Japan, UK, Mexico, Canada, Germany to name a few. Always something going whether it was official business or private time. It was a 24/7.

It's funny where a random comment, photo or web link seen on the internet will end up leading me. The Neil Peart photo above led me to reading online the first three chapters of his first travel memoir, here:

The Masked Rider: Cycling in West Africa

Here he is in Cameroon in 1988.

This is almost wholly a portrait of the people and places of West Africa. There's very little talk of music or cycling. But, when he does speak of these two things, it's sorta funny how differently he treats them in these chapters. He's very careful about his words when discussing the riding, often using quotes around terminology. But he does the opposite in regard to music, not at all worried his reader knows what he's talking about when using musical jargon.

He is fascinating.

I would encourage anyone that is a fan of Neil to read his book Ghost Rider, especially if motorcycles are also in your wheelhouse.

Happens to us all. And I think you got the sequence wrong; looks like Peggy is the captain and Jinx the second stoker.

Pretty distinctive chin.

You guys wouldn't know this, but I'm an artist for a living. I specialize in retro pop art, mostly portrait kind of stuff. This thread gave me a little inspiration to do a cycle related piece.
