Easton freehub hack
I have a set of wheels that have one of Easton's overzealous freehubs that will only take a Dura-ace cassette.
I'm thinking of grinding/filing it down to use other/regular ones.
Anybody done that?

It will take other 10S cassettes just fine.
7800, 7900, 6600, 6700, 5600, 5700 will work as long as they start with 11 or 12 teeth. No Sunshine, Sunrace, junior cassettes or 4600 and 4700.
BBB and Miche had/have compatible splines as well.
Grinding down the freehub would mean removing the tops all of the splines and removing another millimeter of material at the base since 10S cassettes are 1mm more narrow than their 8 or 9 speed brethren.
This may work but on some wheels this will allow the cassette to interfere with the hub body or spokes (my experience with 7801 wheels.)
For 11S compatibility you'd be looking at removing another 1.85mm of material so that's pretty much out of the question.

Thanks for the feedback, but if it would take other 10 speed cassettes just fine, I wouldn't be here.
Anyway, it turns out it is possible, with about 10 minutes on the bench grinder and 20 minutes with a file.
