Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help! My IRD 10-Speed Conversion Cassette doesn’t fit on freehub

I am converting my bike from 10 speed SRAM to 10 speed Campagnolo. I didn’t want to buy new wheels, so I purchased an IRD conversion cassette. It uses Shimano freehub splines but the cog spacing for Campagnolo.

The wheelset I’m using are modern Suzue hubs to Araya rims. Previously, I had a 10 speed SRAM cassette on there with no issues.
When I go to install the IRD cassette, the last cog & lock ring won’t fit on the freehub.

I have tried fitting it multiple times and the spacers, etc all appear to be in the right place. The cogs slide on with no issue, are facing the correct side, and everything sits flat. I measured the length of my freehub, and it is the standard 35mm. I also tried it on a second Shimano freehub, on a Bontrager wheel, with the same result.

the IRD cassette came with a plastic insert in the shape of a freehub to hold it together in shipping. All the cogs, spacers and lock ring fit perfectly on it. So I measured that plastic insert and it’s 37.5mm long.

It appears the IRD cassette needs a longer freehub body, but that doesn’t make sense as the standard Shimano FH is 35mm. I’m out ideas to make it work... help!
