Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If 1 and 1/8 spacer is too big for my Ritchey fork, is the best size down 1 inch?

Probably less than the road - no road rash or torn tights sliding across the ice.

Are you talking diameter or stack? Spacers are typically in 5mm increments and diameter is either 1 or 1 1/8 inch which is your steerer tube diameter.

I think.

I have a Tange 1 and a Tange Prestige OS. The second rides a lot nicer. Nice score for $35. It is indeed a project.

I’m good today, just some bruises.
Glad that you're only bruised. Ice like that hurts... bad.

If fully vaccinated people can carry and spread the virus, what is this mumbo jumbo we hear about herd immunity?

If 1 1/8 too big then 1 inch is a safe bet. Forks are one or the other, or sometimes both (tapered....1 1/8 bottom and 1 at top, last time I checked. That could be dated).

I think the idea is that if you get enough people vaccinated, when you couple those with the other people that are naturally immune to it, you get a large enough population that does not get sick from it that treating those who do will not be difficult. If you can get to a low enough level of hospitalizations, then the burden on the medical system is easily managed.

The virus is never going to simply go away. It will always be mutating and looking for a way to sow its seeds. Look at polio, for example. As good as the vaccines are, and the extent to which it has been administered, there are always flare ups in different parts of the world. The flu is another example. The flu shot/vaccine helps minimize the burden on the system to a manageable level. No matter what you do, there is always going to be someone who dies.

And New Stem.
Ill give my wife the pleasure of wrapping the bars.

Taking the ritchey out for the first time today. I used my Cervelo to loosely position everything. Will be interesting to see how it feels.

Dang! My cousin the veterinarian was riding her bike and was involved in a hit and run a few days ago down in MD. She suffered some sort of leg fracture that needs surgery and has a very sore shoulder which makes using crutches to get around difficult.

Fortunately, a witness got the vehicle's license plate number, and the cops got the vehicle operator. From what my aunt described, sounds like a right hook.

Some people suck. Big time.

She should look into one of these if the leg's gonna be out of commission for a while:

One of my partners got one as a rental once and was favorably impressed. Also, you can still get one with a manual transmission.
