using an old tube as a patch.

Ok, I found my rubber cement for my patch kit, but can't find my last patch. Woukd there be a problem if I cut a 1"X1" square from an old tube to use as a patch?

Yeah, but I don't feel like walking to the bike store. I just want to be able to get to work today.

It will work, but a real patch and some vulcanizing cement (3 bucks) can't be beat.

thanks for the quick reply. It probably is vulcanizing cement. It's Bike specific. it came with my patch kit. It's Schwinn brand. I just want it to last till my next day off, which is most likely tommroow.

I save the patches that come with the kits for roadside emergencies. When I'm patching tubes at home I just use pieces cut from old tubes, & hardware store contact cement. Works for me. Of course, I'm a cheap ba$tard.

On a side note, on eBay you can find sheets of 100 patches, minus the cement, for $1-$2.
