Stockholm to Oslo routes

The Stockholm-Oslo route is to follow a Copenhagen to Stockholm path which is generally central Sweden and then swings to the east to Stockholm.

Two prospective routes to take to Oslo are a northerly route (somewhat straight line) which is 596km and the second is to reverse the Copenhagen-Stockholm route for about 2/3 of the way and then west and north to Oslo for a total of 746km. The advantage of the northerly route is less distance but the disadvantage is that it is through what appears to be more boring forested regions. I've also read that it is easier to approach Oslo from the south which is what the longer route would do.

Any suggestions?

2 ferries to FredriksHaven and then to just west of Oslo?

but Map reading Gothenburg to Oslo Overland on the coast is not far..

I only rode the southern Norwegian Coast after getting off a Newcastle to Stavanger Ferry.. thats Gone Now.

You could cycle up Denmark and take a ferry from either Grenaa or Fredrikshavn (to Sweden's west coast and cycle up from there.

An advantage of Denmark is it is easy to get your bike on a train if weather gets ugly, Sweden is very unfriendly on trains except the route to Gothenburg from Copenhagen.
