Oh What Fun

Back from the hospital getting my left foot filleted so here I lay in bed until Monday with my foot elevated. Now the fun pain begins The surgeon said the planter fibromatosis was massive so the 45 minute procedure took 2 1/2 hours. I was awake during that time and the surgical team was listening to cheesy 1980s music and that was more painful than anything else. I’m going to miss the bike but I will have this cool forum to read and occasionally post on. So everyone keep on riding

Sorry to hear about this, especially the cheesy ‘80’s music LOL!

Hope you recover as quickly as possible. I know what it’s like to be laid up and unable to ride, drove me crazy the last time. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope you can be pain free on the way there.

I assume the pain was bad enough to make surgery now the only option. That sucks.

I’m putting off hand surgery for a torn ligament, till the winter sometime, when I’m not riding. I’ll deal till then.

Heal well and feel better.

I was a Top-40 radio disc jockey in the 1980s. At one point I was pulling weeknights 10pm to 6am. That's 8 hours a day with a 4-hour weekend shift every other week with the current songs on a 2-hour rotation, meaning the same songs every 2-hours.

It didn't kill me...but I wished it would have.

But seriously, I wish you a speedy and successful recovery, with pain-free riding in your future.

Day 5 my foot quit hurting and I’m off those awful pain meds. Finally starting to feel good but that early 80s music especially Journey is causing me the most pain then you mention Barry Manilow on loop now I’m having night terrors.

Ditto on the pain meds. They are atrocious. They do really weird things to your mind and body. Hope you’re doing better.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW! I’m BORED going to have few cold brews this evening and watch some football. Yes, pain pills are awful made me feel depressed and sick I don’t see how people that don’t have pain get addicted to those pills. Thanks everyone for the replies makes these BORING days more tolerable.

96-97, I did 7-midnight on a classic rock station..
Got fired when the Program Director noticed some Motorhead in the play log (I carried in a couple CD's) and tossed me like a rotten banana peel (hey, a little Danger Danger went a long long way way because they sucked sucked, and THEY were in the rotation)..

Hondo, sorry you're laid up. Hope you heal as quickly as Jppe appears to be..

Danger Danger, Enuf Enuf, Kix, Posion, all hair metal except Motley Crue. Good thing Grunge killed hair metal overnight. My high school years was during the height of hair metal but thrash saved the day with the emergence of Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and others. And of course Motörhead and AC/DC that didn’t change their style and are stayed great over the years.

Im feeling great just can’t walk but I can scoot fast on my scooter it has a bicycle brake level and a bicycle headset and I put my bike bell on it so get out of the way. It is just going to be a slow recovery so good thing it is football season.

Thinking about an old Texas license plate with deer horns and a cow bell. And skull stickers but yes you are correct no pictures no proof.

no peanut oil but a few Whataburgers and other junk food. Hopefully I won’t gain too much weight as I lounge around watching football.

Two places I always visit when I'm in Texas.. The Green Frog Cafe in Jacksboro, and the Whataburger on I-30 on the east side of Lake Ray Hubbard.

Finally got the cast off and the sutures removed now just time to heal and hopefully in a few months back on my bikes. The removal of the sutures was not as painful as I anticipated a few stung but overall it wasn’t that bad. Battling boredom and no real physical activity is driving me nuts. Funny my left leg is becoming a stick as my right leg still looks like I ride bikes

just googled pics of that, yikes! so are you walking on the foot now? & yeah muscular atrophy stinks. I broke a leg & had knee surgery in different legs years apart. you can even them out but it will take a while & some work. harder & longer for us older guys

Gradually putting more weight on the foot the doctor says slowly so I won’t rip my foot open. They put surgical glue and some kind of surgical strips where the sutures were. Just a slow process and I have to be careful not to rip my foot open Some weight lifting is planned when I can to help even these legs out.
