Meet The Woman Who Biked Across The Country To Save Herself From Depression
I saw this woman's story in Bicycling Mag from a few months ago, and it bubbled up again since Jasmine now has a job where she can continue traveling, riding, and working full time!
Great story.
Great story.

When I ride my bike I feel a lot of positive energy afterwards. Getting on the bike to commute was the best decision I have ever made.

They are probably filler pictures of her after the long ride and such. Or perhaps someone earned some bike karma by giving her a new or better set of wheels.

Looks like three different trailers to me. The time span was two years, but she was not cycling all that time:
"Jasmine: I was on the road for one year beginning in 2016. I bicycled from Indianapolis to Austin, TX. I worked for a few weeks in Boston, doing odd jobs. I wanted to get my cross Canada trek started as quickly as possible to beat out the winter, so I hitched a ride via Craigslist up to Seattle. I then headed North via bike and ferries and began the amazing journey across Canada.
"I made it to Nova Scotia only a couple of weeks prior to November 2016. I decided to enter the U.S. and skip out on going up to Newfoundland and Labrador, due to the harsh Canadian winters. I rode my bike and hitchhiked down the East Coast and made it to Florida."
Very easily could have changed equipment during that span of time. May have even had sponsors.

When I was riding across the country with a small group we overtook a pair of sisters who had started in CA, headed north (no easy task due to prevailing coastal winds) and then turned east in WA. One of the sisters was at least her size and had actually lost weight since starting the trip. I have also seen men her size while touring, albeit not many. Saw one dude coming off of 7,000+' Lost Trail Pass in MT as I was heading the other way. He was quite rotund.

Not everyone who bikes a lot gets or stays slim! Some people (like me) don't see much change no matter how much I am doing/what I am eating. Not in our genetics or hormones get in the way!

Not to take anything away from her story as it's a great thing that happened. However, it takes a great deal of energy and focus to plan something like this. You don't just get up one morning, scratch your head and say, "I'm going to bike across the damn country." It doesn't happen like that. It can't happen like that. I'm certainly not one of the worst case of depressed people out there, but I don't know if I would have the wherewithal to orchestrate something like this NOW, much less when I was in really bad shape and sleeping 15 or more hours a day. Just the logistics of something like this would be beyond anything I'd be able to put together. That doesn't really sound like someone with deep depression.
Great story though. I'm sure she'll get a movie deal out of it.

I dont know anything about this person in the article as far as her weight go's
but for myself I will actually gain weight when I cycle a lot if I am not careful about my eating habits

Who cares if a person is less than an ideal weight? 4ft tall or 8ft tall, why is it a topic? 2 eyes or 4 eyes, who is counting?

150 lbs of gear..cough..she's a better man than I am. I have to give her credit..she appears to have done this, but something doesn't seem right. Not sure what it is..

Ultimately, I don't care because she's not affecting me in any way.

"Her tire popped and efforts to repair it proved fruitless. Determined to make the 25-mile trek, she started to push her bike, which was loaded with all of her 150 pounds of belongings, up the mountain. As she trudged up the steep incline, she crossed paths with thousands of tarantulas embarking on their annual migration. Despite the circumstances, she’d never been happier."
Agreed. Pure fiction.
