I have a Shimano flat mount disc brake on my front wheel/fork. Currently the setup is for a 140mm rotor and I want to switch it for 160mm.

Question. I know I need to flip the flat mount over, so the 160mm arrow marked on the flat mount is pointing up. What I don't know is, how does the caliper and the flat mount come apart. Or do they even need to come apart?

For example, do I separate the flat mount from the caliper, turn the flat mount upside down so the 160mm marking is pointing up , re-attach the flat mount to the caliper, and then re-attach the whole thing to the fork?

Or does the whole unit get switched upside down? This makes no sense to me though, as there will be cable issues.

I did some web searching but couldn't find any tutorials on what to do, and my Zinn maintenance book doesn't talk about either.

Arrows point to direction that the rotor rotates when you're riding the bike.

Flip the adapter around, not the adapter and caliper.

Unscrew the 2 bolts holding the caliper/adapter to the fork. Take the adapter and rotate it 180 degrees. Reinstall and torque to spec

Successfully installed the 160mm rotor on my bike tonight. Thanks for all of the help/guidance.
