The idea is to identify with the hard as nails guy that won't let anything stop him. It's not intended to be realistic - are hard core cyclists that challenge lightning storms really the target audience? It's a good advertisement in my opinion.

If you're looking for incongruities, other than no goggles or shoe covers, those of us who do sometimes ride in weather like that don't strap an i-phone on the handlebars, waterproof or not. Not that I've ever heard of anyway.
