Bravo! Muy elegante. Are those grips thick leather? They look as comfy as they are stylish.

Thanks, Dudes! Maiden voyage was to the booze shop and the crate held up just fine
@SquidPuppet - They have a decent thickness to them, probably 2.5mm. They're sure to break in and get even better(I hope). Did 12 miles on 'em today with no gloves and it was a pleasure.

So here it is folks. I can no longer call my Salsa Casseroll a SSFG, because it's now a 7-speed IGH. This is my first IGH in nearly 40 years, and it really makes this bike a lot more useful as a loaded hauler. The IGH is a Shimano Nexus 7 that I chose primarily because its 130mm axle OLD matches the dropout spacing in the Cassy. I laced it up 3X to a 36h Sun CR18 rim with DT Swiss Champion 2.0/1.8/2.0 SS spokes and brass nipples. The resulting gear range with 42T x 19T and 700x32c tire is 37.7 to 92.2 gear inches. The shifter is a Microshift 7-speed with two buttons, similar to mtb shifters. I was able to use the down tube shifter mounts for a barrel adjuster cable housing stop and the cable guide under the bottom bracket, but had to install a separate stop on the rear of the right chainstay to align properly with the hub shifter mechanism. The IGH and shifter added about 3 lbs to the bike, and the overall weight including saddlebags is now 31.2 lbs.

at least in the case of my 3 speed fixed igh, much heavier.
its more about the (mostly) contained mechanicals than the weight

Definitely much heavier, which is why you don't see them used on lightweight bikes. My guess is that the IGH was about 2 lbs heavier than a derailleur setup.
