Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Of course, we could also carry a pocket knife to school and play with it and recess.

For forty minutes, with people stopped at random places including standing in ankle-deep water with nothing but a garbage bag poncho to keep them warm. And lightning striking around while, again, they had the racers standing in deep water. They got started again and she finished well enough, but was cold and stiff after that. And cranky at the group that runs Ironman.
My friend did fantastic this year. I think she finished before they started pulling people from the road, but I don't know for sure yet. 10:58 finish time. We usually ride together at like 16.5mph average (in the hills), but she managed 19.5 at IMTX. Apparently super flat and fast course.

I was previously addicted to legos with my daughter. Well, to be honest I still am, but now I'm too poor to spend any money on it.

Today's race had a big hill, and a pretty technical corner at the bottom of a healthy descent. It was going to be hard, and then it started to rain just as the whistle blew. I know I've arrived when I hear "hup hup hup" when I move forward. Had I been more confident in my cornering, it would have been a different day. If someone would have told me I would finish second on a day like today, I would have called bull.
