And, speaking of tris, AG did really well at IMTX, given that the bike course was only published a few days ahead of time (and was 18 miles short) and then the swim was changed the day before (increasing the bike to 95 miles), and then at about mile 20 of the run a signature Texas thunderhailstorm rolled in and, after 20 minutes of torrential precipitation and lightning strikes, they paused the race right when the storm was relaxing. For forty minutes, with people stopped at random places including standing in ankle-deep water with nothing but a garbage bag poncho to keep them warm. And lightning striking around while, again, they had the racers standing in deep water. They got started again and she finished well enough, but was cold and stiff after that. And cranky at the group that runs Ironman.

Today's race had a big hill, and a pretty technical corner at the bottom of a healthy descent. It was going to be hard, and then it started to rain just as the whistle blew. I know I've arrived when I hear "hup hup hup" when I move forward. Had I been more confident in my cornering, it would have been a different day. If someone would have told me I would finish second on a day like today, I would have called bull.
