Weight limits
I am looking at a 2009 trek fuel ex9.8 in carbon. I weigh right around 350lbs. After I set the sag on the front and back suspension do you think I would have any issues with the carbon frame? Thank you

That's kinda what I was thinking but I'm hoping someone has specific experience.

Just my opinion- carbon frames are for people where plus or minus 5 pounds will make the difference between winning and not winning a race. We're so much heavier than any bike that an especially productive trip to the bathroom will eliminate more weight than any kind of frame. I'll go with heavy metal.

I'm near the OPs weight class and have the same take as MagnaRota. I figure why pay the carbon premium when the weight benefit is lost. I would rather have something with upgraded mechanicals or have that money for a good set of Clyde wheels.

I'm 250 and thinking of selling my CAAD9 due the (albeit older) carbon forks at my weight. YMMV.

Over 250 Pounds is where STEEL GETS VERY REAL...
I am sure there are Carbon frames out there that could handle the weight but why take the chance when there are so many competitive steel frames that are proven to handle extra weight.
I hover between 240 and 260. Once I get over 250 I quit using my SLX bike and stick to ChroMo. When I am out there ridding my Peugeot P-6 or my UNIVEGA ya know I have been putting on the feed bag...

Current weight about 260 pounds. My Roubiax has 35,019.1 miles. Broke my first spoke recently on my primary rear wheel 32 spoke 700c laced three cross, over 25,000 miles on it since built. Weight limits are a function of litigation aversion of engineers IMHO.
FWIW I bunny hop often with this same bike, pavement cracks and debris.
