Nothing at all, but the more I read and looked at pics, I just got the itch to put drop bars on it.

I did the drop bar bar end shifter mtb conversion and LOVE it however I chose to go the smaller tire way down from a 2.1 to 1.75 as most my riding is road over gravel and 1,75 have plenty of meat.....Super duty with good tread for gravel and road.

If I had a clue how to post a photo I would.....

I just put the clear coat on my old repurposed mtb frame today. Parts are all sorted and cleaned, build it this weekend I hope. I got some 1.75” tires to put on as well.
Gonna see if this gravel riding is as much fun as it looks.

When you do a post, look for the little paper clip icon. Click it, then find your picture file. There are some size limitations, but if it's not too ginormous, it's pretty easy to post a pic. I'd love to see it!

EDIT: I did not see the pic of your bike before. Looking at the super long stem you are running now, you are far less likely to run into the fit problems I did.
I'm getting a shorter stem, so hopefully the reach will be comparable to what it was originally with the longer stem. I'll post a pic when it's done for sure.

i went a little overboard on my dad's old 1998 AutoBike classic....... i had most of the parts except tires. Not only did i convert to drop bars, i also changed from 26" to 700....... and installed 700x32 Kenda Kwicker gravel/cycloX tires...

They're 26, brakes wont reach on 700's.

Tire clearance can also be an issue with 700c in 26ers. There's usually plenty of room to the sides, but the diameter of the wheel is often a problem, especially if you want to fit anything wider than a skinny road tire.

I tried a 700 in the front, it fit with plenty of clearance but when I saw how far off the canti's were to reaching the brake track, I didn't go any further. There very well may be clearance issues on the back.

Yeah, i knew the canti's wouldn't reach so i used a pair of dual pivots that I had lying around.

I'm running 700x32 in my autobike conversion. I don't think 35s will fit. The fork has PLENTY of clearance. I could run 60s if they made them.......lol The rear triangles are a diff. story. The seat stays appear to have more clearance than the chain stays.... If i could figure out how to post pics (again) I would............

Let us know how those Double Fighters work out. I've been really curious how those roll / perceived weight, etc versus Specialized FastTrak FlakJacket.

I won't have much basis of comparison since I haven't ridden any similar tires, or anything in 26 inch size in a while for that matter, but I'll be happy to let you know what I think of them.

The tires are 26"x1.9". They were $59.90 for the pair through my LBS. I might have preferred something a little more gravelly and a little less mountain-bikey, but considering I'm going for monster cross and not just a run of the mill gravel bike, they may just fit the bill quite nicely.

I like the look of the bars, and what little I rode them around the LBS parking lot for purposes of adjustment, they felt good. I can't wait to try them out for real.

What do you consider "more modern fit style set-ups"?
