Q:What was the #1 song the day you were born?
A: I have no idea, Mom didn't have the radio on the day I was born. But according to the nurses in the nursery (and your web site) it was "The Thing" by Phil Harris. (DOB: Dec. 22, 1950)

"Hey! Baby" by Bruce Channel

Never heard of it. I would have preferred "I Can't Stop Lovin' You" or "Twistin' the Night Away" (same year), but nobody was asking what I thought.

The #1 song on Thursday, January 19th 1961 was:
Wonderland by Night by Bert Kaempfert and His Orchestra

I like how when there is a drop-down menu to select my year of birth, and I have to scroll and scroll to reach it.

I was born on the evening before Kennedy's inauguration, and there was a gigantic snow storm that hit the east coast. I asked my parents about that, and they had no memory of the snow storm or of the connection between my birth and the inauguration. I guess they were occupied.

I was born two months after the day the music died - and 200 miles away from the place were it happened.

Seriously? First how would I know?
In Versailles? Yes France!
I don't think they had a number ONE song then--and no it was not during the reign of some Louis!
Would I be going faster on my bike if I knew?

It's on my playlist. It was the theme song of the Boston Latin School Football Pep Band in 2006, FWIW.

I'd very much like it to have been "Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard, as it would make me maybe a decade younger than I am, and because hearing that particular song really rocked my world - it was that unbelievable. Unfortunately, the real song was That Lucky Old Sun by Frankie Laine. Talk about tame!

Thanks for starting this thread -- reading others' posts brought back some memories.

Other variations of potential interest: best-selling car, typical road bicycle of that date, etc.

Interestingly, “Good Night, Irene” here too. I did previously look up my family, and my wife’s song is also “Third Man Theme.” Son is “Groovy Kind of Love” by Phil Collins and younger daughter, “Tha Crossroads” by Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.

The generational differences are interesting. My son and I used to play "Name that Tune" in the car by punching the scan button on the radio, and naming the songs that came up. His knowledge of my tunes was more than mine of his, but I told him could easily jive me about his songs, because I didn't even recognize the names of his groups.
