About those Tipo QR's btw, I think that in many instances these were used on bikes with thinner, stamped, flat dropouts, and that in many cases there isn't enough clearance for the cone springs to allow the QR ends to fully clamp onto the dropout surfaces.
The springs bottom out first!
Best to either remove the springs or shorten the axle ends a bit when this happens.
The only other case of mysterious axle slipping despite a heavy pull on the lever (and assuming the QR is lubricated), was an English Viscount hub that had brass locknuts on the axle, which were tres slippery and had to be replaced. One more reason Viscount is gone, I guess.

I traded a couple Raleighs for my Mirella that I love! It's fast, smooth with Phil's hubs and Campy NRs. It also has beautiful butterscotch seat! I've riding this quite a bit lately. This is my time of year to ride!

I don't have any campy, but I'd love another set of Phils to replace the ones I had traded off years ago...

^ Good advice.
That Mirella is going to be just stunning all cleaned up - That is, IF you get rid of those hubs and replace them with something more in keeping with the rest of the bike.
Congratulations on your super-snag, Top. We don't see many of these bikes around here, and it's one of my favorite Italians.

I dunno if that's necessary. There was a period when switching from Campy to Phil hubs was considered an upgrade.

I've seen pictures of at least one Mirella of the same vintage with the Phil hubs. Most have the three-arm crank, though.

If not having an FW-4 led to this, I would think you don't need to get one, either
This is a great find, and for $150 a steal. The components look in nice shape and will clean up well, and the same goes for the frame. What a great project!
Btw, is that Campy grease I spy filling up the allen-key holes on the RD's top and bottom bolts?

I got a call from a friend who told me she just put a bike out on the curb. Luckily, she was only minutes away. It was filthy having been stored in her basement for years .. All I knew was that it was green and she said it was Italian. When I got home I gave it a quick wash down .. and discovered this:
I kind of stopped looking on trash days ever since, figured my my lucky charm had expired on this one.

We've seen transplanted Rally cage arms onto a NR body, but not the reverse.

Scott, that is an interesting variation on the Rally RD. Makes you wonder if somehow the original outer plate with the "Rally" designation got damaged and the owner or LBS repaired it by using a spare Nuovo Record. I realize my Rally is a second generation version, but IIRC, the first generation like yours also had "Rally" and not "NR."

150 from the LBS?!?!?! Nice score! At my LBS the owner probably would have kept it for himself!

Isn't finding neat old road bicycles fun! Finding is a big part of vintage bicycle enjoyment, for me.
Wouldn't mind a bit of bushwacking myself!-(
Guess that I will just have to settle for this Bianchi Pro waiting for me when I get home...
