What is my 1980's Torpado Beta Bike's Value?

Good Afternoon! I am a newbie here searching for a bit of educated information concerning the value of my bike. I purchased this bike when my children were just little ones from a young man who had swtiched from racing to mountain biking. I vividly remember loading my three children into the car to meet this man and struggling to fit the bike into the car along with the kids. Anyway, I digress.

I happily rode my VERY LIGHT Italian racing bike for many years. But, since my back injury and subsequent surgery, it has sat lonely in my garage loft since 1995. I have finally decided it is time to part with it although it does hurt my heart. I know I will never ride it again.

Every year, in the Spring, when I took it in for service the employees would drool over it. I have not added nor taken anything away from the way it was when it was purchased (save for a seat that didn't hurt my hind parts) so it is all original. I would love to be able to finance my trip to Folly Beach this year with the sale of my bicycle! I have taken lots of photographs and am hoping and praying that the knowledge folks on this forum will be able to tell me it's monetary worth in today's market.

Thanks so much! (I am not allowed to upload photos (URL's) until I have at least 10 posts? I must be doing something wrong. Suggestions/Instructions as to how to upload my pics, please)

Most of the Beta that turn up are mid-1980s models. The frames tend to be eye candy with the embossed, all chrome fork and embossed stay caps but they are nothing special in terms of material or workmanship. During this era, it sat around the crossover between entry level and mid-range. The tubing was plain gauge Columbus Aelle and the components were mostly lower end from 2nd tier Italian companies like Ofmega and Universal. The only Campagnolo components were the low end 980 rear derailleur paired with the Nuovo Valentino front derailleur and the shift levers. Sight unseen, assuming average condition, in an average market, I'd value it at $200.

Say hello to eight more people, explaining that you are trying to get ten posts so that you can load pics. We will all understand and you are doing nothing wrong. Ten posts are required for picture posting simply to avoid scammers, as I understand it.

While nothing real special these are great looking bikes with a huge part of the value depending on how nice the chrome and paint are since a lot of these Italian bikes have not aged well paint or chrome wise. So some nice pics with details will help use give a value .

Depending on condition, it would be a $100-$200 bike around here, but likely optimistically priced on Craigs List @ $400 or so. If it has been sitting for 20 plus years, it needs a tear down, clean & polish plus an overhaul of hubs, BB, headset plus new tires, tubes, cables & brake pads. This can easily exceed value of the bike and won't increase the final sale price much, just make it a little easier to sell. So you see how we end up with a garage or basement full of C&V bikes. Don

Sadly too rusty and crusty to finance a trip. In an average market, I would be lower than TMar's estimate above.

AWW! Thrifty Bill said the sale of the above bike will not finance my vacation.

I have posted (GEEZ - hard to figure out!) more pics of the gears and such. Will anyone give a second opinion?

Thanks!!!

This is in far worse than average condition, which was the basis for my original valuation. $60-$80, if I could determine that the bearings were OK.

I paid 200$ for this Torpado beta, but it’s pink with beige forks and had been upgraded to shimano exage ex components. I thought I did good but not sure about values on this model.see the decals coming off maybe I should try to restore? Or just ride and have fun? The only thing I did to it was I put pedals on it instead of clips.
