Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good group ride last night. It seems that this whole recovery/getting enough sleep thing actually works - I had much more 'go' when I needed it, recovery time was shorter and I didn't feel wrecked when I got in to bed. It's nice to feel like efforts are paying off and things are coming together, so I guess it's the life for me and I'll continue to get to in to bed at a distinctly uncool early hour.

Poor sleep habits are a major issue for a big chunk of my patients. Best advice I can give is pick a regular bedtime and wake time that is consistent and allows fully refreshed sleep. Do something relaxing the 30 minutes before bed, avoid screen time or anything controversial then. No caffeine within 6 hours of bedtime.

That’s my dr datlas sleep advice. Sadly, most patients say that’s not working and want a sleeping medicine. Sad.

Yeah, I try to avoid caffeine after 3pm or so, but rarely have any after 8am. Trying to get to bed so that I'm good to wake at 6:00-ish, though I'll actually be able to sleep later than that 5 out of 7 days of the week though the summer. But, kids, worst case, yadda yadda. In terms of "something relaxing," it's weird, but I have this definite point where reading becomes counter-productive. Reading for 30 minutes or so is fine, but longer sessions will leave my mind racing and I'll imagine that I'm still reading after I've put the book away and I'm on the cusp of falling asleep - it's like I'm flipping pages and reading words, but it's not making much sense. It's annoying.

The first 5 miles are pretty benign. Middle chainring worthy, especially with the tail wind I had. Shifting just slipped my mind. Thought I was just incredibly weak. Did I mention that it started to rain with about 3 miles to go? Temperature dropped into the 40s. Took cover in the trees to put on rain gear. Much of the descent was wet, and I had 3 different deer encounters. One group ran in front of me for a bit.

I drink on the same three cups of coffee all day. One big mug.

I'm on forever hold on the phone right now. I called a facility and I think they let the other one know I was going to call. I guess they are tired of the bad news I've been delivering.

Anyone know if I have a server would i be able to use it as storage for the games systems?

I make a habit of avoiding important games late nights because if my team loses I’m not getting to sleep for 2 or more hours.

Dang west coast games, and the Rockies. It's hard to turn off the TV when the Rockies play.

In related news, mrs datlas and I just had lunch at one of her favorite Japanese/sushi places in Philadelphia.

Next stop: Federal Donuts for dessert.

West coast games are the worst. It’s probably my fault the Warriors lost, I didn’t watch any of the home games.
