Sunday I meet up with my friend and rode in Irving ,TX trying some of the trails near the Los Colinas mixed use office /residential development.
Finished up with 40 miles on a plenty hot summer day.
I rode my Schwinn Passage and he rode his Rivendell Homer Hilsen, a very beautiful bike.
There is a smallish lake at that development where gondola rides are available.

I went out for a Dawn Patrol ride this morning on the '71 Gitane TdF converted to fixed-gear. I realized I hadn't cycled the loop that includes Deadfall and Clem roads for two years, so I corrected that and was rewarded with the usual lovely sunrise that spot always seems to provide -

Everyone here is riding at these scenic locations!
I'm still just huffing and puffing, riding around my neighborhood. I did just under 5 miles this morning and my knees and thighs are still complaining! Hah

This past weekend, we had a severe heatwave. I'm good at handling the heat, but it seemed foolish for me to prove that, so I stayed off the bike. We spent the weekend at our place upstate. Rather than going back to the city Sunday night or early Monday morning, I took a pre-breakfast ride, as the heat had broken. I took my normal hilly 16-mile route. The climbing has become easier, and I hit a new speed record going downhill, 45.5 mph (73 km/h)!
GPS tracks

If you're just getting started, you might want to get a quick bike fitting, just to make sure your saddle is in the ballpark. Knee pain can be a sign that your saddle is too low, or not positioned right, front to back.
Unfortunately, the huffing and puffing never really goes away - you just get a lot faster while you're huffing and puffing :-)

I put the Mondia on the back burner for a bit, I added water bottle bosses ,rebrazed the head tube, added down tube shifter braze ons, and then primered it white.
I am currently in the process of resurrecting a 1951 Automoto which will soon be going to the chrome shop. The Automoto shouldnt be too much longer except trying to video and photo graph the process with my limited free time is more difficult than I thought.

Mid-Day Monochrome Blues
I got out for a nice ride from my place in West Saint Paul down the Vento Trail and around Lake Phalen on Sunday afternoon.
This part of the Summer always finds me pressed for time. Normally, I like to ride early in the morning or late in the afternoon, to take advantage of the beautiful soft lighting conditions. But sometimes the only ride available takes place directly under the harsh mid-day sun.
On days like that, I often resort to black & white photography, because it emphasizes the sharp contrast found under such conditions. Sunday's ride did not disappoint...

Beautiful bike and great shots! I take my camera on most rides, too, but I never thought of shooting black and white in bright sun-- thanks for the tip! Also, I've been looking at getting a set of H Plus Son wheels for my '79 Fuji Royale-- how are you liking them??

I am also a former rider of the Fuji Royale from that era; wonderful bike! They struck the perfect balance between touring and sporting rides with that bike. If you want to build up a bike for everyday spirited riding, you are right on target with the Royale.

As you can see from the cobwebs on my helmet it has been quite some time since I've been on the bike. I managed a 40 minute ride along the Fox River Trail on my CrossCheck SS today. My hip was cramping up and my back is sore but cardio wise I felt okay. The handlebar wrap started deteriorating and my hands were black by the time I was done. When I got home I started working on my Shogun 1000.....as gears will be better for the next ride.

^That makes my head itchy!
I got out for a quick 20 miles on my De Rosa along the SF Bay Trail along the shoreline and out toward Treasure Island via the Bay Bridge. It was a hot windy afternoon. Many photos were taken, but most were crap and featured the blurry edge of my finger.
The Empire is on the march!

My New Ride To Work
I finally escaped my crappy job in Shakopee, which was 30 traffic-snarled miles away. Now I work in a very cool place only 2.5 miles down the hill from my house, for better money and a far better work environment.
Here's a shot from this morning's commute:
What else can I say? Short of winning a lottery and retiring, I think I've hit the jackpot!

Got a few friends up early and did a Wildcat/Tilden loop. Last time i was up here it was smoked out. San Pablo reservoir with Diablo in background.
A look at Havey trail, center, from the nike site off Nimitz way. Awsome ride down the canyon to the right. A new bridge was built over a creek crossing that made it a quick downhill.
