loose cranks?

i can feel it move when i trackstand, and i don't think it is my chain tension. and when i get down close and move the non driveside arm with my hand i can see it move just a little inside the bottom bracket. that is bad right? do i need to take it to my lbs and get it properly tighened?

sounds like you should have the BB and cranks tightened.

More likely the square taper on the cranks has been rounded, making it move around on the bottom spindle, the other way around, or a combination of both. Depending on which it is you may need a new bottom bracket, cranks, or both.

Also, you can try undoing your lockring and screwing the floating cup in a TAD farther.

This probably isn't the case, but I know that when chainring bolts come loose it gives a feeling of a "loose crank." Just a thought.

Stop riding and bring it to a pro. You may have already hosed one or more components.
