Nooo! GoLite is closing all it's stores!

For anyone interested, GoLite outdoor packing equipment is going out of business. I just received an email. This is terrible! Even though I purchase very little from the, what a great operation! Their website is offline too, so no way to get in on the self-serving feeding frenzie.

Whoa! Every one of the stores is closing? That's gonna send shockwaves across America.

Nah, no it won't.

They filed for Bankruptcy and have gotten to go ahead from the judge to liquidate. All 6 stores plus the online operation are being shut down. Everything is currently 20% off. The site could be down due to increased traffic or they took it down to make all sales final through the stores.

Maybe if you had purchased more from them they wouldn't be going out of business.

Ouch! That's hard. I do feel a little guilt, but it's less painful than debt collectors... just sayin. Actually, if they had "the" product I was looking for I would have had one of their UL single tents and a pack. So I'm still using a heavy pack and 6 lb tent.

This doesn't surprise me. They had some good stuff when they first came on the market, but the rest of the lightweight/ultralight (back)packing industry developed products that surpassed GoLite's stuff, and they could never reclaim the lost market share.

This may be cold, but ... never heard of them and ain't gonna miss them. And maybe that's one reason why they're going out of business.

Website is back up. Fantastic prices on equipment, but dang, nothing I need.
