Dura Ace 7700 front (left) shifter repair

Does anyone know where I can find information on how to repair a Dura Ace 7700 front (left) shifter? I am more of a C&V mechanic and there fore I can fix downtime shifters all day but there new fangled brighter things confuse me.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What seems to be the trouble? Could be a a fraying cable. Could be old grease (or dirt) needing to be flushed out. But no, brifters, particularly Shimano, can not designed be repaired/rebuilt.

It doesn't shift down. Could be an old grease thing but I was hoping that there was a way to rebuild these things.

As suggested, check inside the brifter for a fraying cable, it is a WHOLE LOT easier to get the head out before it breaks than trying to dig/push/curse it out afterwards.
