I ride in the mornings, but not at the crack of dawn, so it shouldn't be a problem for me for a while. Also, riding in cooler weather agrees with me more than warm and humid, so the next two or three months are prime time for me.

just the opposite the cool weather makes me want to ride, my bike has lights on that I never take off. I'm ready to ride anytime anywhere I can. I hate the heat and ride way more in fall, winter, spring.

I'd agree, depending on your morning schedule, it's a great time to ride.
For me, its up at 5.30, out by 6, back at 7 ,showered by 7.30.
The daylight window is getting narrower, but some front/rear lights and some fall weather kit, and you're all set.
Sheesh.
Any day is a good day to ride,no?
Get out there man!

Modern LED lighting has made lack of sunlight all but irrelevant.

I ride early AM, 0500 to be exact with a 0400 wake up. When it's June-July Incan pop out of bed and can't wait to get on the saddle with my glasses and just my blinkie. The rest of the year it feels like I'm really waking up at 0400 which feels like waking up in the middle of the night.

I used to have a west facing patio, and in the fall when the daylight was vanishing fast, I'd have trouble riding when I could just sit in the sun. We get overcast for months at a time.

^THIS^
Light has no impact on my motivation, frequency, etc. Ironically, because of those flashing red and bright white LEDs, we're more visible when riding in the dark.
Now the dropping temps... different story ;-)

This is exactly the reason I started bike commuting. I figured if I had my bike with me at the end of the day, I would be much less likely to blow off my scheduled ride.

Kit doesn't match
^ Along those lines, when my motivation is low I can usually get moving if I decide that it's okay just to have a short, easy spin. Not every day has to be a three-hour hammer fest. Usually, once I am rolling and have broken the slovenly inertia, though, I have a much better ride than I expected when I left.

Non omnino gravis
I love the fall and winter, what we have of it. No need to try to get on the road by the crack of dawn, I can actually finish a ride on 2 bottles of water, and I don't sweat out 5 pounds of water weight in two hours.
My favored ride length is 3-4 hours, so running out of light isn't a problem. And if I leave at 8 or 9 in the morning, get home around lunch, it's not a billion degrees out. More daylight means a whole lot more heat.
Summer can keep winding down, IMO.

Well, not really. But I hate cold more than darkness.
And really I hate wearing all the gear more than the cold itself.

I hate the blazing heat, now my A1C is 13.1 and the triglycerides are in outer space. Serious stuff.

I'm still plenty motivated, but the shorter days mean that I have to start earlier if I want to get any serious miles done. I'll ride rural roads with shoulders in the dark, but not the twisty, hilly shoulderless county roads with nothin' but drunks and deers after sunset. I'm an evening rider, not a morning rider.
The dark season does have its own magic, especially once the summer heat is done.

12 hours of riding time in 15 hours elapsed time? Did you smoke a brisket in there too?
