My Dad uses them to reinforce the cushion support on the chairs on our deck. They're basically a metal frame with rubber straps, but they stretch out, so my Dad ties pieces of tubes and they hold up quite well.

A friend of mine used to used cut-up portions of old tubes to tie bikes to his trunk rack because he was too lazy to buy bungees, and he had a friend who worked at a bike shop that gave him an endless supply of bad tubes.

The rear-wheel strap and end cap flew off my THULE rack driving down the highway. I use a piece to tie my rear wheel down when transporting my bicycle.

I also use a piece to tie the front wheel to the THULE wheel holder, just in case. I once had a front wheel fly out of the thing. Turns out I had pinched it between the QR, and the axle, not where it should have seated between the QR and the hub. It loosened on the highway, and off it went!

For my SSFG city bike, I wrap sections around the frame to protect it from dings & scratches (it gets locked up to all kinds of stuff)

x2 i used some to tie down stuff other side before a storm i usually use bungees but i ran out.

i have never thrown away an inner tube. they have loads of patches on them and work just as well

I recently removed the protective inner tubes from my fixed gear as I'm rebuilding it, and I found that they had left faint (but apparently permanent) yellow stains on the white paintwork. Grrr.

I use inner tubes for all manner of bodging (that's a British word, look it up). They've proved particularly useful for my improvised 3w torch mounts and in general for making slippy things not slip.

Now if only I could find a use for worn out tyres - they really seem to have no purpose.

This thread has given me so many ideas. I really liked the idea of using them as extra cushions for things.

I'm keeping my first 2 blown tubes as my new spares, since I just bought 2 new tubes I don't want to buy 2 more when I have 2 that were very easily patched. However before RAGBRAI next year I will be buying many tubes, but hopefully won't need them when I get some new tires.
