Grips over bartape??
Saw this:
and kind of want to replicate it to give it a try on my bullhorns, but kinda confused how they pulled this off. Did they put the grips on first then put on the bartape? Did they pull the grips over the bartape? Any thoughts?

I remember reading about this a while back. He slid the Oury's all the way up, slipped the Keirin grips underneath, then taped the bottoms.

They could have at least cut the ends of the grips off with something other than a dull spoon.

No, it stops just under the ends of the track grips. You can roll them back a bit, wrap the bar, and then roll em back down.

used to do this years ago ... in fact I kind miss it. Ourys are soft spray isopropyl (lots, and re-apply because it gets really tough if it dries out) to lubricate slide grips on roll back a little then wrap with tape or other grip of choice. Reduces chatter a lot I love Oury grips

When I see grips on drop bars like that, or like this
...all it says to me is that they don't actually use the drops, and only have them for looks. Annoys me.

Most people are primarily in the tops/hoods. You're not in the drops all the time, it would be uncomfortable to do so. I'm on the tops/hoods (not really hoods I guess, but where the hoods would be) 90% of the time. That being said, I'd still put some grip tape or something on them.. heh

I know that, but I'm just saying. I don't see how someone can ride in the drops without any tape at all. Same goes with un-taped bars. Just some peeves that I have.
