I haven't ridden Shadow though, so I guess I don't know what I'm missing. I'm kind of behind on the times...still on a 9-speed with the old SRAM stuff. Oh well, my old gear gets the job done, when it comes time to upgrade I'll have something new and exciting to get stoked about.

Shadow is great for rock strikes(i can squeeze even narrower stuff). However, I still get dropped chains on the XC bike so these things are interesting, but probably too expensive for now.
