Been riding almost every day for the last week (at least),also have been getting my son on the trails for his first ever dirt (he's ridden LOTS of road with me over the last year) now that he has a "mini-mtn bike",LOL! But today,I just had a leisurely ride around some local trails (and yes, after I finished my loop,I drug my 15 year old daughter almost a mile up the trail to shoot the Youtube vid...but in my defense,it was the easiest section of the loop, and it was her idea ).

My son on the same trail (and same section) just yesterday

When the ride begins with a steep and chunky climb, Concrete Blonde's "Still in Hollywood" is a kick ass tune to get things rolling.

The Specialized Butcher 2.3 as a Minion DHF alternative kicks ass.

Solo riding is good for the soul. So is riding with others.

Finally had a good week of riding. Headed out to Wilkesboro, NC(about 2 hrs NW) to hit Dark Mountain and Warrior Creek on Wednesday. Then went to Beaver Dam in Raleigh on Thursday and finished up with Carolina North in Chapel Hill on Friday. Got a lot of mileage in and even a few photos.

^^ That depends . . . do you have a little mirror clipped to your visor, a hunter-orange vest and beer can fenders? I don't think you can call yourself one without the complete ensemble.

Got out for what was supposed to be a short 10 or so mile ride, but they've changed the trails quite a bit since I was last at these trails & I got lost, turning it into 17-ish miles. Lost my third set of front brake pads, so I won't be back out on the Hornet until I can afford Elixirs for the front

Still a good ride though, weather was a little warm at 80*+ but nothing too bad. Trying to get out there as much as possible before Spokane in two weeks...longboarding has completely dominated my free time the past few months. Nice to be back on two wheels again.

I rode Riverside yesterday with one of the shop owners. He hadn't been in the Deep Creek area, so we went over there and did Tour De Moon down to the Deep Creek bridge, then left and up the long ascent to the plateau, then down and did Sharp Stick before heading back. Conditions were great. We met three or four groups of hikers, not too bad traffic-wise.

On the way home, I went over to Greenwood Road off Governement Way and gave it a serious run, resulting in a new KOM mark on Strava: https://app.strava.com/rides/6431262#121435007 And that's not with my raceday wheelset either. 26ers, they're awesome

A bit of worry while 7 miles from the car.

...made it back, thanks to duct tape, tire boots, more duct tape, zip ties around the tire/rim & extremely low air pressure.
