Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

GMC Roadbike?

Anyone ever heard of this brand. I was up at Wal-Mart the other day and saw one chained up outside. It caught my eye as most bikes do. It didn't really look high end as it had no STI, but grip shifters on the top of the bars. It also had lower end shimano drive train. Still, might be a good choice for a commuter, or a bike that one has to leave locked up alot.

It's pretty much one of the best bikes you can buy.

It's highly recommended that you get this bike and post pics of you riding it.

.. . . . . Just buy the bike convert it to a single speed remove all the gear components and the grip shifters, replace the cranks and your set....good enough for commuting....since it's only like $147.00

If you cut the toes out you can use them as arm warmers on cold days.

A couple weeks ago I also saw a Ducati bicycle at the local park. Did they actually make these, or did the guy just put some stickers on a road bike frame?

I wouldnt buy it. I seen my 3rd junked one today. Forks were bent backwards but the front rim had next to no damage. Not only were they bent but they were cracked on the front. In other words they came very close to breaking off out right. I have a hard time pictureing a crash that would crack and bend forks with out damaging the wheel. Now on a old schwinn i had the forks break loose at the crown when i hit the front breaks but that bike was a rusted out heap. It worries me that a bike that could not be more than a couple months old having the forks crack mid way from hitting the breaks.

Spend 250 on a used bike from ebay or 350 for a motobecane from ebay youll be much much happier. Im not so much directing this at any poster in this topic but any one who reads about these bikes on these forums. GMC denalis are made by kent and are as low end as you can get.

In the context of what I just said, yes.

I had some of the highest grades in my classes in school. So I don't think not knowing about bike brands makes someone an idiot.
Of course, the term 'idiot' really means someone who has sub-standard intelligence, but a popular usage of the word nowadays refers to a lack of knowledge or experience (data) as well as the typical definition regarding general intelligence (computation). In the knowledge-based usage, and in the context of knowledge specifically about bike brands, you are an idiot.

You, Sir, are a bike snob.
Thanks for the compliment! You'll find a lot more of them around here! Most people on this forum collect expensive bikes and comment on how shiny they are, rather than actually riding them any significant amount, or to any great ability. It's a souless, pudgy population.

Just buy the bike convert it to a single speed
