It does what I ask bang-for-buck better than just about anything else in my range. In affordability, it's rapidly eclipsing aluminum.

We looking for some more drama to carry us through the rest of the week?
My CF bike was a peer pressure thing. I can't ride a cheap aluminum 9-speed if everyone else has force on carbon now, can i?

Just call me Chris
I believe CF is easier to design and engineer a better all around bike. The drawback is to build that bike, the materials and manufacturing process are likely to be higher in cost.

Because nothing looks better with a large chocolate shake and Super Size fries than a Madone McBike.
Seriously, there's a lot of carbon fiber out there that's great and 'feels' one way or another (Look 486, Calfee/Parlee anything), and there's quite a bit that has little feel (not to say that's bad). It's not like many topics here get much of a concensus in terms of opinions, but this question's especially scatter-shot.

Throw the stick!!!!
Because I really want to see a carbon frame explode! I figure the best seat for the show is on the bike.

carbon's fun. it looks cool when it breaks.
something funny I've heard from one guy was "carbon rides like steel"...I think its true, depending on the model of the bike.

Carbon is a great ride and ultimately the best performance material; however, if you're like me, and not about to make the Pro Tour anytime soon, I'd go Ti instead. It's a lifetime frame. I even investigated titanium forks, but they're prohibitively expensive. Sibex used to make a road ti fork but now they only make MTB or cross I believe.
