White Road Shoes - Ya or Nay?
Curious how many of you ride with white cycling shoes.
Perhaps it's from watching pro riders or those catchy magazine adds, but those white shoes are looking more attractive all the time. I know, nobody cares what you look like anyway, so color doesn't really matter. And it's not like I'm watching my feet spinning, so why bother.
Besides being harder to keep clean, is there really any reason not to have white shoes? Will I look like a Fred with hairy legs and white shoes? Already feel like a Fred for even asking.
Hey, maybe white shoes will make me faster?!!

Red shoes will make you faster.
Nothing wrong with white shoes. I know several guys that wear white cycling shoes. I have seen some that also have various other colors on them and to me those look a bit strange.

You had better be good to wear white shoes. I don't even think it's legal to wear white shoes with unshaven legs. You need to check your local ordinances regarding this matter.

White are very nice, although as you noted a wee bit difficult to keep clean or rather they show the scuff and dirt more than say, black shoes do.
If you like them, no reason not to go for it.

I have both white and black road shoes. My first white shoes were Shimanos and they were a bit harder to keep clean. My S-Works Specialized shoes are basically white and they are much easier to clean. My Diadora Comps are black and still look new, well they are new so maybe that is the reason.

white should be cooler. as far as the hairy legs go, you might try dippity-do or breelcream, a little dab will do ya. and chicks dig a guy with a bunch of live bugs stuck to his legs.

White cycling shoes might be OK, depending on your neighborhood. Do not wear white shorts because they become transparent when wet with perspiration. On the other hand, this may be fine in your neighborhood but proceed with caution.

White shoes, here. I keep them clean with either a windex spray or Wesley's Blech-White, a tire cleaner you can buy at any auto store.

I don't know why anybody wears white anything. I have enough trouble keeping the black stuff clean.
Having said that, I can't imagine discussing the color of my shoes with anyone...

Do white shoes have the same Labour Day restriction that white purses have? Not that I have any purses to be concerned about unlike some people on here.

Memorial Day is coming, you can wear white shoes, but only until Labor Day!

White shoes here too. I've never considered cleaning them to keep them looking white.

I really do think white shoes look cool....on the shelf in stores and in photos on the internet. Coupla rides and I'm guessing they wouldn't look so cool anymore. Like white handlebar tape...
