Had a tear or two in my eye today after Ryder Hesjedal rode an inspired time trial to win the Giro. He was a great mountain bike racer, and obviously is now a great GC rider in the Grand Tours.

This was a really fun Giro to watch, even at 5:30 A.M. It was competitive from the get-go and was as wide-open as can be up to the last day. Great win for Ryder.

I'm probably biased but that was the best tour I've ever watched. Lots of suspense and nothing decided until the final ride. Fantastic day!

With no American on the podium, my self-esteem is crushed. Seriously though, it was a blast to enjoy for three weeks with a good outcome.

You have every right to be Proud- he earned that win and deserved it. I saw the TT on TV and no shocks- no crashes so he did not win by default.

Well done Ryder! I am continually amazed the elite pros can push their bodies while on the edge of exhaustion day after day. The tactics and overall strategies are of interest but the sheer physicality of the sport is almost miraculous.

Because there was more than one Canadian in the running for the GC? Or were we supposed to think there would be Canadian pride if Ryder didn't win? That they are so nice this could have been for second? Sorry, but the thread title is in fact a spoiler.

Not sure spoiler alert is still enough. One could piece together Canadian/spoiler alert. Kinda gives it away....to those that follow such. I rarely watch biking events and couldn't tell Canadian dude from Adam. I will watch the Tour de France however but mainly for the scenery shots and the commentary. Even though I bike I don't really following biking. Might know 10 pro bikers total and that might still be a stretch
