first road bike fit questions

Just bought my first road bike. I'm 5'8" and bought a 54cm raleigh revenio 2.0. The stem was a 90mm stem but I felt the reach was too long. I purchased a 60mm stem but I think I might need to push seat back for proper balance but I'm afraid I will be to stretched out. I would like to add picture but im new to this forum and don't see the option.

A proper fit typically feels too stretched out and the saddle seems too high but as you get stronger it feels better. Concentrate on your riding posture by tilting your pelvis forward so that your lower back is straight. Avoid the slumped-over posture. That pelvis-tilted forward posture alone will make your reach seem shorter
