Replacement brake arms
I need to replace a broken brake arm from an Bridgestone MB2, the arms have BR AT-50 stamped on them. I am wondering if the post which the brake arm pivots on is standard, such that I could purchase a newer brake arm set, such as a Shimano Altus BR-CT91.

The cantilever bosses (mounting posts) are a standard size, but you'll want to check where the spring anchor holes are. Every modern frame I've seen has the holes on the "inside" (wheel side of the post), but my '87 Mongoose Alta has them on the "outside". Canti arms with coil springs can be fitted either way by just swapping the left and right springs ...
But cantis with integrated springs (like Tektro 720s, Avid Shorty, etc.) don't give you that option. The BR-CT91 looks like it uses a removable coil spring so it should work fine.

Thanks, I checked my frame and the anchor holes are on the inside. I had not even considered that as another variable.
I hope to buy exact replacements currently available on ebay, but if the price gets too high I would like to be able to look at other options.
