Chain size for 1x7?

Hello,

I'm only missing a chain for my 1x7 speed conversion. What chain size should I choose? single speed chain (1/8) or multi speed chain (3/32)? i'm using the original chainring that come with my bike.

You'll want a 3/32" wide chain, for 8-speed or less. Chain length will depend on your frame and gearing.

What is your current chainring? If it's a 1/8" track-type ring you will have to change it to a 3/32" chainring to allow use of a 3/32" multi-speed chain. As noted you want a chain listed as 8-speed or 6/7/8-speed

any good old 8-speed chain will work. should be less than 20 bucks. remove links from the chain according to what your bike needs. there's no way to tell you that over the internet that's not a waste of your time. look up "how to size bicycle chain."

a singlespeed 1/8" wide chain will be too wide to fit and shift correctly on your rear cogs, which is why it's called a singlespeed chain.
