The caveat, of course, to the no sealant thing is some tires are permeable and need sealant to be airtight and maintain reasonable pressure.

Well... Yes. But if the tires seal without any sealant, while you don't get a puncture you don't have to have sealant in there drying up without any use, because when you finally get a puncture, if its long enough, you have forgotten that the sealant was dry in there... So you might have to unscrew the valve core and add some anyway. That or check like.. monthly I guess.
But I gave up on that. I carry a 60ml sealant bottle around in my saddle bag, even if there's already sealant in the tires. As well as a Topeak survival box, tube, patches, hammer, anvil, welding machine, everything. Ok, only true up to the patches. You never know, I rather have it all inside a saddle bag and never worry.
So on my gravel bike, which does have some sealant inside, I stopped checking if it's dry. I will only add some the day I get a flat that doesn't seal because there's no liquid. Following the same thought, I haven't added any to my road bike yet since the tires are new.
I will add during races, and then suck it all off with a syringe through the valve after the event. During a training ride I don't mind getting a flat and fixing it in a couple minutes, plus it won't spill on my frame and my ass during the ride - I can wait it work before resume riding. And probably, after that I'll suck the excess off when back at home.
I once opened my tubeless tires and scrapped all the dry sealant off it after a few months. There was some 60g of dry latex there already and I'm a weight weenie... So why bother with that? Just ride without sealant if there's no hole to be fixed.

Thanks, that makes sense. That's one of the things that doesn't seem appealing to me with tubeless, having the sealant spray everywhere as it's working to seal the puncture. I wouldn't mind waiting a few minutes after adding sealant for it to do it's job, then keep riding.
Big holes is what makes a mess. They won't seal until the tire is nearly flat, so you are going to stop and pump anyway. I've had bigger sealed holes unplugging days later because I pumped higher pressure too, so for that you will have to place an inner tube patch inside the tire, or maybe a tubular patch with superglue outside but I haven't tried that.
Dynaplugs and stickyworms can work but they can also make a cut bigger as you install it, so you must evaluate what looks like the best option.
But in the end its just a clincher, you can always treat it like so and add an inner tube if all goes wrong. All in all I like them, and most times you will fix it faster than opening a clincher to change tubes.

Got a set of the 46mm deep wheels with DT240 hubs.
GP5000 28mm aired up to 45psi front and 55psi rear.
I've got a little over 1,000 miles on mine.
Relatively smooth bike paths with some tore up roads.
I've hit some pot holes and other jagged areas of trail/roads at decent speeds with no issues at all.
Wheels remain true as the day I received them.

Still waiting. Order was placed on April 25. One rime is "finished", the other is in "painting", so it should be close. But it looks like shipping will be closer to a month from the time of order. I guess I wouldn't feel so impatient if they had not upped my expectations for fast shipping time.

That would be nice, but it is seeming unlikely. Tracking info indicates that they arrived at the sorting center in Fujian 5 days ago (5/22) and haven't moved since. It's 32 days since I placed the order. I just seem to be unlucky here.

No. I'm certainly tempted, I'd love the additional internal width, but I picked up some Assaults a couple years ago and have a hard time justifying another wheelset. Maybe next year.

I'm pleased to say that they arrived in S.F. this afternoon. It so happens that I have to be out of town Thursday and Friday. Did you have to sign for delivery?

I don’t believe that I actually signet anything, but I can’t say for sure. I happened to see the express delivery truck stop out front, and met the driver at the door before he even reached the door.

I have to ask: how tight are these rims to mount tires on? Easy by hand, hard without tire jack, impossible?
This is a known problem with the Reynolds Assault and Reynolds Strike wheels..

I definitely saw it while looking for reviews of the Reynolds Strike wheelset from multiple sources, and I believe I had heard about people complaining about it with the Assaults as well. Good to know you can mount them by hand on yours.

I've had zero problems mounting tires on LB hoops. The tires will be snug, but no tools were needed. the tires(30mm Schwalbe G-One Speed) inflated with a floor pump, and the bead set easily. They also stayed set when deflated to add sealant.

Particularly when it's an aspect that can involve user error, I think it's important to take negative online feedback with a grain of salt. Tubeless is relatively new and it's literally a game of millimeters. Inexperience, of which there is a lot, can lead to little mistakes that make life difficult, if not impossible, stuff like using old-school fabric tape, not getting the beads in to the channel or starting at the valve, etc.

Some tires are more difficult than others, but I've never needed a tire jack to mount a tire. I have used a PTS-1 on a few DH tires, but thats just to help set the bead evenly.

The 55 mm Falcons (25 mm wide). I'm odd and opinionated and didn't want the new wide rims (we've discussed this earlier, actually)
DT swiss 240 hubs, Sapim spokes.
I'll post pictures when I can. Unfortunately, the wheels are arriving just as I leave town for a few days (but I'm glad they're arriving), so it will be a while before I put tires (GP5000 25s) and a cassette on them and actually get to ride.

What bike are they going on? Rim brake I'm guessing.
I wonder if you get hit with the tariff.
