Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It’s not really “Hawk” Mountain until fall migration season. Until then you won’t spot any large scale raptors. Your best bet would be to spot a couple turkey vultures or black vultures, or maybe the local red-tailed hawk, but that’s about it.

Oh, also. Quintana was hit/crashed while out training in Columbia. In the hospital, but couldn’t find out the details. I asked a friend of mine originally from Columbia, but haven’t heard back yet.

edit. NOT at the hospital (ESPN ). Minor scrapes and knee pain.

It's about a 5 hour drive one-way. Maybe I'm being paranoid.
Ideally the bike stays inside the car.

Some people refer to the west climb as “The Dark Side of the Hawk.” Never done it. No interest in doing it.

That's literally the reason I drive that big brute of a Lexus. I've driven AG's high-zoot tri bike in it through Texas dust storms and violent thunderstorms and it was a great comfort that the bike was safely tucked inside the same cabin we were warm and clean and dry in.

I don’t think your paranoid at all. The lady that drove me home today had the hitch clamp, and I was stressing the whole ride home. She had a really nice specialized and said she never had any problems using it but I still stressed.

So the LBS I like to go to, moved recently even closer to my house, and now they are looking for a bike mechanic. I talked to the wife and she’s okay with my working there part time on my days off. Her exact words were “you need some way of funding your addiction”. Hoping I can work something out with them, Basically would only be available once a week for now.

I know they offer one, but not the amount or how long before I earn that privilege. I imagine it’s pretty decent. Everyone that I know that works there are all riding Project One models, those ain’t cheap.

Mostly a tri geek thing. I have a PN-something on my P2 and the Attack on my trainer bike. For a roadie I tend to prefer something narrower in the front, but that's just me (many like them on road bikes).

Heck, I think I have an old Prologue and Attack that are sitting next to the trash if you want them. AG and I were, again, literally clearing out the old junk after the move.

It would be awesome to try them, I have no idea if I would like them or not.
Current set up is not working though.

Is there a reason bikes shops are closed in Buffalo on Wednesdays? I wanted to rent a bike this coming Wednesday, makes it hard to do so when said shops aren’t open.

I can only seem to find the Prologue, now, but that's the more roadie-friendly one anyway and it's yours if you want it. PM me your address and I'll send it along in the next few days.

I wouldn't mind trying something that was a little more amenable to riding on the rivet. It seems like the ISMs might be good for that, but I'm not sure what kind of trade-offs there would be for... regular riding.

Fortunately and unfortunately we're looking into taking 6 bikes between 4 people in 2 cars.

4 of those bikes being for people 6 ft or taller. Hard to fit in any vehicle.

After I broke my hip, that was the only saddle that worked for me when I was on the bike for more than 4 hours or so. It is comfortable, and just worked. I have it on my TT bike now, after turfing the Fizik Kium. After a while, I was back to being able to use any old saddle, which is why I went with looks instead of function on the road bikes.
