Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why am I seeing ads for hearing aids? Does Google think I'm some kind of alter kacker?

Interesting thing I read about today...

When a power pole snaps, they go out and cut the rest of the pole out ASAP - less chance of the lines breaking or coming down that way.

If an item has to be labeled "heavy duty", is it actually?

Moving snow around is always heavy duty, as far as I'm concerned. Put an old feller like me in the hospital!

true, heavy duty isn't necessary. it is polycarbonate. We all know that polycarbonate construction is best for awesome shovels.

The Car Talk guys had a customer they dubbed Heavy Duty. Everything he wanted/needed replaced--he wanted "Heavy Duty". Heavy Duty, one day, came into the shop and ended up needing a clutch. He said "I want a Heavy Duty clutch"..."Are you really sure?", "absolutely". So they went and found the heaviest-built truck transmission they could and installed it.

Next time they saw him, the tale goes...he seemed about 3" inches taller (due to his shoes he now needed). "How's the clutch, Heavy Duty?" "The clutch is fine but MY FEET ARE KILLING ME".
