Oddball specialist hobby flippers?
I have been looking at Terry bikes. I think they're neat. I'm a normal sized person. I had an idea I could put my kid on one, earlier than most kids get on decent bikes. He's 11mo. I have been looking at tandems. I think they're neat. I've only got one butt. I've so far only gotten the wife to agree to trying a rental. I have been looking at Cannondales - by now you get the idea. But so far I've been able to stave off the bike hoarder that I know lurks within me. Back a few years ago when I and another friend went around looking for a bike for him, he found one guy who only bought bikes with EZ-fire shifters.
Anyone out there in bike flipper land have a type of bike you consider your specialty? What is it? LWB recumbents? Bikes Friday? USPS-livery Treks?

i buy almost every bike i can in my area that is 56-58cm, mid-level, with pretty paint, and priced under $200. i have to feel confident i can move them easily and at least break even after any investment required during full refurbishment.
this time of year in my area, there are very few bikes available meeting the criteria.

Still learning
Not oddball, but I have a thing for Mixtes. A few examples, ultimately to be sold. Not shown is a Motobecane Grand Jubilee in black and red livery.

I've thought about finding an oddball niche but that idea gets mothballed very quickly. If your a hardcore flipper any niche limits your market. If you only flip a few bike any niche limits your market.
One must differentiate flipping bikes you know about and those same bikes being niche bikes. One of my golden rules is to never buy a bike I know nothing about. An example would be tri bikes, I dont buy them because I dont know enough about them but they're also a niche bike. They're a subset of racing bikes. I know a lot about Italian racing bikes and Campagnolo and Shimano so I concentrate on those bikes but i dont consider them to be niche bikes. Niche racing bikes to me would 80's funny bikes.
