GoPro Customer Service

Hi All. I bought a new GoPro Hero3 Silver edition and was having a problem turning the camera on. Sent the camera in to GoPro under warranty and they had a replacement camera back to me before they even received the old one. Excellent customer service. I highly recommend GoPro if you're looking for a video camera.

Maybe you better wait till you get the replacement before you get so happy. I had a problems with pink images then sent the unit back after re updating the thing per customer service requests. I go the replacement and it sucked too. I had to send that one back and now on the third unit. It works better then the first two but still not as good as the GoPRo2 I bought 3 weeks prior to the GoPro3.

Their customer service was quick and responsive but the unit itself, I don't think I'd recommend one to friends any longer. Heck, even the Flip I have that costs much less (about 1/2 the price) didn't have any problems like this.

Unit #2

I haven't gone to video yet. The large data chunks and computer resources needed have turned me away so far. Besides, I can barely process all my raw files from my DSLR in the time I have. Adding video would put me over the top for time spent on the computer.

Beanz, sorry to say that you were right. The replacement camera that they sent will not go on either but at least the original one would go on if you took the battery out and then put it back in - this one won't go on at all.

Wow. Serious quality control issues with the suppliers/manufacturers, it sounds like.

You know Gary, I've had lots of trouble with the GoPro3.

One thing I found is that when I empty the recorder via computer (deleting files on sd card) it will record for 15-20 seconds then shut off on its own.

I found through a search that one has to delete the files (reformat card) by way of recorder (sup'm to keep in mind). A couple of times it would not go on either. These things are so sensitive to everything.

It sucks having to update this update that .....I though I was just getting a recorder that "worked".

I was finally able to get the camera on and upload the latest update. The camera works PERFECT. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

I got my first GoPro (a hero3 black) about a month ago, and so far the only problems I've had have all been attributable to user error...

The biggest one has been the discovery that when I'm in motion - walking, driving, cycling - I tilt my head to the right, by quite a bit - too far to even correct it via the mounting on my helmet! Never noticed this before, and had to find some video editing software that would allow me to correct that.

Well Gary, I will say they are tough recorders! My Go pro tabs on the mounting link snapped on today's ride while descending GMR (mountain rd) at 30 MPH, Case is banged up and scratched a bit but still in excellent working order, no lens damage and still recording when I picked it up.

I've used a tether in the past (still do on MTB) but stopped using one on the roadie figuring, what could happen? Now I know and will return to using a tether. As far as a tether, I use an extra camera wrist strap.

Taking a tumble at 30 MPH. 2:40
Slo Mo tumble and what it saw at 7:46

This is the view from my wife's bike. This is a Hero2 and the SD card popped out before it hit the ground.
