36 miles Sunday evening. Didn't really feel into it until the final 10-12 mile leg home, when I finally started feeling energized. Joined some friends who'd just completed a 150 mile ride/fund raiser, and still had energy for a casual social ride!

The Domane was in for its first major service at Gator Cycle, including isospeed and bottom bracket bearing replacement, new chain, and cleaning. My slow power cadence is rough on chains and bearings. They also secured the Di2 lower junction box, which had developed an annoying rattle.

Unfortunately I didn't pick it up until 7:00, so just a little daylight left to ride 5 mi.

Biked to work and back today - upper 30's in the morning but felt fine. 19 miles round trip.

10 miles Monday evening to loosen up the legs and get the blood flowing.

Explored some older neighborhoods nearby that follow a creek that's usually dry until it's needed for flood control. Interesting, observing how some homes and properties are designed to minimize flooding risk. Some homes are elevated above the roads on artificially built mounds, with unusually steep, short driveways. Others appear more vulnerable to flooding.

Reminded me of how my granddad and grandmother choose their lakefront property and had their home built. She worked for HUD, he for the Corps of Engineers, and they knew the flood risks and patterns. Theirs was among the few homes that never flooded over the decades.

I have done that ride the Highlander Tour in NY for me is tougher. They have a 5 mile hill climb the night before the ride and a young kid wins it in something like 18 minutes and some folks it takes them over an hr. to finish it. I actually saw a guy fall off his bike on one stretch pf the Century ride that had about a 23 deg. slope to it. I have never seen that before.

As a grad student at Cornell, I remember doing an organized 83 mile loop around Lake Cayuga on my then new Fuji Del Rey. I was too chicken to enter the race group, but at the time I was in my mid 20s and in pretty good bike shape, so it was a fast ride. I couldn't have known at the time that I'd be still riding strong some 35 years later.......

I did my usual morning ride then went out again on a warm, sunny afternoon (in shorts) for 30.1 miles (48.4k). I can't put the long pants, jackets, and full fingered gloves away yet. Looks like a cooler weekend.

40 miles to Bronson and back, moderate winds on the way out. Gorgeous ride north to a strong finish with an orange sunset and a bright yellow moonrise. The tuneup made a huge difference, bike rides like new!

20 miles on the hilly, windy route. One of my fastest rides there despite feeling sluggish and struggling against the wind. Guess I can't go by how I feel.

Just 7 miles to try and find an $80 torn hoof boot that had fallen off my saddle yesterday (strapped on by its own velcro after it failed and was removed during an aborted 15 mile ride) somewhere about 3 miles from home. Decided to ride the bike to find it - which meant riding the gravel roads from my farm down to a mile long woodland path that at the halfway point crossed a 12' wide creek (thankfully shallow enough for the most part for me to walk the bike through the water while jumping a zigzag course of unsubmerged rock to unsubmerged rock to get to the opposite muddy side), then riding a rolling, overgrown-already mowed pathway through a mile long hayfield...and not finding the boot. Oh, well. Even if I'd found it, I couldn't have repaired it, so it was a lost cause from the start. But I did enjoy the "country bike ride" where no self-respecting bike (other than a mountain bike) should ever be taken. Didn't want to retrace my original route, so opted for taking the one and only (albeit out of the way) paved road home. Tomorrow I'll get to enjoy a planned 18 mile ride on suburban roads..with no creek crossing except on bridges.

22.4 miles (36k), still cool in the morning but sunny, lite wind, beautiful day. Tomorrow should be nice but I'll have to spend the morning in a dentist's chair getting two crowns (more needles in the mouth). The afternoon will be too windy (18mph+) to ride.

She's doing great. Surgery on Friday. Up until the fall, she was doing 100+ miles a week over a 4 to 5 day ride week. For a lady her age, she's a real trooper.

Mid 90's and moderate to gusty strong winds for 40 miles. Riding hard this week in anticipation of the Tour de Madison in VA next weekend. Blue Ridge Mtns. Metric Century with an additional 8 miles of nice climb up Rt. 643, a respectable way to end the ride.

John_V I am glad to hear that the wife is doing fine. What I was asking though how is Amanda Coker doing since I know you get to see her every now and then and ride around her. Her year is up sometime this month right. What is the time frame for the 100,000 mile quest that she is going after. That was set by Goodwin also right. Kurt didn't do it because he kind of ran out of funds. Is that right?

50 nice miles today in typical, gorgeous, Florida weather. Split the ride between my buddies Steve and Frankie. Trying to make up some mileage for the days I had to take the wife to the different doctors.

Amanda! We'll as of this afternoon, she was at 85,4xx miles and going strong. Her year ends on Sunday and she's starting her 100,000 mile quest on Monday but not until she lets her mom sleep in late and have a few a few cups of coffee, at home instead of the parking lot. Her dad calculated that she should break the 100,000 mile mark around July 4th. I'm not sure how many more miles over the 100,000 she will do.

Yes, Tommy Godwin did 100,00 miles in 15 months. I rode with Kurt a few times when he was down here at the end of his attempt but never really got to know him like I do Amanda. From what I was told, he ended his attempt shortly after breaking the record due to the death of his father. Not sure about his financial status at that time.

About 20 easy miles Thursday evening. Legs felt dead so I loafed around, stopped to snap some photos. Beautiful spring weather.

Didn't ride Thu-Fri. 18.8 miles (30.3k) in the cold. Due to unforeseen circumstances Spring has been cancelled (in Northern Nevada). I wore 60% of winter riding gear today. Looks like the same for the rest of the week.

Had 3 separate rides today all of them hampered by 15/20mph winds.

First was on the grocery grabber for a 15 miler starting at 4:35AM. Slow and easy even with the wind to my back.

Second was the LBS ride for 42 miles of sheer torture due to the winds ans elevated mpk.

Third was the cool down for 38 miles and man was it nice riding slower.

Yesterday I got in 21 miles as a Bike Commuter.
Today my favorite stoker and I did 52 Screamer miles on a club ride out of Brownsburg, IN.
Most very rural and mostly flat.

Did two rides today. First was the annual HCSO Fallen Heroes Memorial Ride that I do every year. It's normally a 50 mile ride for me but my riding buddy was having issues with some of the rollers on the 25 mile course. I told him not to try finishing the second lap as he was pretty spent, so to be fair, I ended the ride with him.

Since I had my hopes on a 50 mile ride today, I went to Flatwoods Park and did another 25 miles. Just happen to get there at the same time as my buddy Frankie so it was a nice ride. Unfortunately, we happen to get there when the winds were really starting to pick up and this is what we had to look forward to. This was at the end of the ride but the winds weren't any different during the ride.
