Out early with through the roof humidity. Surprisingly, a breeze kicked up against me on the return. Hooked up with a T-bike rider on a very nice Cervelo, and we battled the increasing wind for several miles at a nice 20+ mph pace, taking turns pulling. It was nice to have a little company as I generally ride solo these days.

GOAL: 400 miles
Opted to take Saturday (wedding anniversary, 39 years!) and Sunday (wife thought it was too hot to ride; did yard work instead) off, but came back today with a vengeance. It's becoming an addiction, because when I don't ride, I spend my time planning the next one. Weird event for the day: I found the spoke I broke two weeks ago. There's a spot on Sepulveda just north of the Skirball Center intersection where I usually stop in the shade and get a drink, catch my breath, etc., before the last little climb to the top of the hill. Apparently, that was where I broke the spoke from my rear wheel on my Tarmac, because when I stopped there today, there was the spoke, still sitting in the gutter from about two weeks ago. The nut was still on it (Ultegra spokes of this type screw in at the hub using nuts on the hub end of the spoke) so I have that if I ever need it. Rode across the San Fernando Valley, then up Topanga Canyon and out to the beach. It was overcast at the beach and I almost felt cold for the first time in weeks (we're having a bit of a heat wave here in So Cal of late). Plus, this morning my podiatrist said my foot's healed, and I don't need to see him again unless something goes horribly wrong. So, for a Monday, it's been a pretty good one.
How appropriate that I was riding the Tarmac again with its new spoke when I found the old one.

Boy, your mileage has really increased! And that's not flat, is it?
I would rate the riding in VA as high moderate to strenuous, with more than enough tough hills to keep the interest (and intensity) level high. And what's nice is it's possible to shortcut most of them if I'm not feeling it that day.
FL is flat, a little boring at times (except the Hawthorne Trail, but that's 10 miles on busy roads to get to), and damn hot and humid as can be. If I don't get out in the early AM, best to wait till late in the day. But the storms and rain have been consistent most days, so all that FL sand gets everywhere. I sometimes clean and relate my drive train several times per week.
As a side note, I'm 200.5 lbs. I like this group so maybe I'll pig out on ice-cream the remainder of the month so I can stay in the club!

wthensler , if you mean me, then no, not hardly flat, today's 51 miles included 2,293 feet of climbing between Sepulveda and Topanga Canyon. Oh, and 3 rattlesnakes, too, two of which were dead, this one I wasn't sure about, so I gave him a wide berth.
In looking at the helmet-cam video, based on his size and length, if he were both alive and upset, I think he could have got me. Thankfully, that didn't happen.

Rode my newly assembled Trek Multi Track 730 this morning after finishing putting it together from stuff I had on hand . It’s a light fast smooth riding bike .
Definitely will find a place in the rotation. Had to lean it up to take a picture. No kickstand and looks like it might be difficult to add one in the regular fashion . There’s a place with two screws on the chain stay to add Something near the chainring.

I'll probably end between 400-425 miles. Thats fine, it's my second month ever riding a bike, and I'm really just trying to drop some pounds.
