looks like I’m going to have to cut back on my riding to let my shin heal .
i thought riding would help , but it’s been bothering me since last Halloween when I fell on my bike and bruised the bone .

With the off time I took , the leg got better even though I was walking everyday .
lost a couple of pounds as a bonus .
Riding five miles two days ago , it started bothering me again and even with just a three mile ride today I can tell riding makes a difference.
I’ll continue off and on and try to get this thing well for good .
you have been on a major roll lately, maybe the body needs a break..my hat is off to you

September Goal: 700 miles

Just a couple of test rides. I went into the LBS to get new tires for the Allez (got the last pair of 700x23s they had) and the mechanic saw me and said, "Oh, I'm almost done with your wheel, can you wait a minute?" Heck, yeah! Got my newly-trued wheel back for the Tarmac, and after putting the new tires on the Allez, decided they both needed a test ride, so they got 10 miles apiece on the bike path to the beach. Ready for the next adventure.

My second thought is that it might be fun with a mountain bike.
When we had massive rain and flooding here last year, 36 inch pipes were placed across the MUP's to pump water over the berms into the river, I would ride my bike and hoist it over the large pipes to get my ride in.
About 25 miles west of Portland, OR. My MUP of choice is the Banks-Vernonia Trail. It's (mostly) a rails-to-trails thing.

Same ride as yesterday. Realizing now I’m running out of days if I’m to get 700 miles. Still doable, but will take some effort.

Here’s a nice pic of my return ride today. The basin to the left attracts alligators, which I see from time to time. The new Domane is getting a good workout and I’ve discovered the rear IsoSpeed needs to be ‘detuned’ a bit as it bounces at higher cadence on long stretches. I didn’t notice it in VA as it’s way too hilly there!

Bike needs cages and water bottles and I’m taking suggestions on white, red or black. Getting white Bontrager decals for the wheels next week.

Same ride, chipping away at it. Hopefully this weekend will stay dry and I'll get a few extended rides in

Quite impressed with the determination of the folks on this thread. Whether its a few miles, or a thousand - get out there!!!

September Goal: 700 miles

It didn’t feel like it, well maybe that one hill, but I managed to get just shy of 4,200 feet of climbing into this informal century ride. It all went well up to the last 8 miles, when it turned hot in Santa Clarita and I started to fade. But I got to the train home on time, so it all worked out.
